Ogle County emergency personnel were prepared when tornado hit last month

Emergency personnel in the area continue to have meetings on how they responded to rural Rochelle and the surrounding area when the tornado hit on April 9th.

179 structures in Ogle Conty along with around 30 homes were damaged or destroyed from the storm. This included Grubsteakers Restaurant at the intersection of Illinois 251 North and Route 64.

Rochelle Mayor Chet Olson appeared on the program "Let The People Know" for the 1st time yesterday since the tornado hit the area. He talked about an exercise about a year ago helped emergency personnel handle the problems they were faced with the night of the storm and days after.

He also stressed that everybody knew each other which helped the victims of the tornado.

Mayao Olson said that state officials were impressed on the way they communicated with each other during the tornado and after the storm.

"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 on Newstalk 1060 and rebroadcast Saturday morning at 6 on Newstalk 1060 and Sunday morning at 6 on "The Coyote".
