The Illinois Department of Transportation has announced that weathering permitting, construction work will begin on Route 72 near Monroe Center this Tuesday.
The project involves 4.7 miles from I-39 to the DeKalb-Ogle County line just west of Fairdale.
The 1.5 million dollar project includes new storm sewers, curbs, and sidewalks in Monroe Center. There will also be pavement repairs and resurface of Route 72.
The work should be completed by the end of August.
Traffic will be restricted to 1 lane during working hours. There will be closures of side streets in Monroe Center during the storm sewer and intersection pavement work.
Drivers should be prepared to stop for flaggers who will be directing traffic in Monroe Center.
