State officials still assessing tornado damage in Fairdale

Two weeks after a deadly tornado ripped through the small community of Fairdale, the state's emergency agency says it's still assessing the damage. Nearly every building in the town of 150 sustained some kind of damage and the Illinois Emergency Management Agency said it's too early to say what state aid will be available to residents and local governments.

It's possible that aid from the state may come in the form of physical assistance instead of actual funds. Local government leaders don't expect to receive any federal emergency aid.

Ogle County officials also don't expect to see any federal money following damage to subdivisions in rural Rochelle along with several farms and businesses.

The Chicago Bears are doing their part to help in the recovery effort for those affected by the tornadoes that ripped through Illinois earlier this month.  The team announced they will be donating 100-thousand dollars to the United Way of Rock River Valley.  Several players, including Blake Annen, Ryan Mundy and Will Sutton, will be in Fairdale today to help in the clean-up.
