The numbers continue to rise in the amount of damage done from the tornado that hit Ogle County last Thursday night.
179 structures have now been reported damaged from winds that reached 200 miles per hour. This includes 20 to 30 homes destroyed in rural Rochelle subdivisions along with a local restaurant and homes east of the business.
Ogle County Emergency Management Coordinator Tom Richter said they have visited every known reported location twice that suffered damage along with talking with each family.
Richter said that the tornado had an impact on over 500 residents in the county. He said that debris is still being collected in the subdivisions. They would like to have public traffic restricted due to large trucks in the area.
Richter also talked about the Multi-Agency Resource Center today and on Thursday in Rochelle. He said that people have a 1-stop location for things missing from their home such as driver's licenses, marriage certificates, and other personnal information.
The Recovery Center is located at the former Beacon on the Green restaurant from 8 until 8 today and from 8 until noon on Thursday.
Richter also expects construction to begin this week on the rebuilding of some of the homes damaged last Thursday from the tornado.
