Illinois keeps inching closer to finding a possible solution to filling a large hole in the state budget. The Illinois House approved a bill yesterday that rearranges money in the current year's budget to plug a one-point-six-billion-dollar gap. The plan proposed by House Speaker Michael Madigan would transfer money from state funded programs like road construction, and would cut the entire budget by two-and-a-quarter-percent. If the Senate approves, the money will be available to pay the salaries of prison guards, court reporters and child care workers.
