Caterpillar is moving two production lines from Joliet to Mexico, leading to a loss of 230 jobs at the Will County plant. The production of gear and engine oil pumps will be moved to a sister plant in Monterrey, Mexico beginning late next year in a process that will take nearly two years. State Representative Larry Walsh says the move will ultimately mean only about 50 production jobs will remain at the Joliet plant, once contract workers and management jobs are shifted to Mexico.
