Taxpayers in Illinois are waiting longer than expected for their state refunds. The Department of Revenue announced in January that they would be delayed about a week, but says some people are waiting longer. In previous years, it's taken about four-days to get a refund, but they're being delayed by new security measures meant to reduce identity theft. A department spokesman says the waiting period should be reduced within a few weeks.
