In his first public appearance since losing his bid for reelection, former Governor Pat Quinn told a group of law school students that more should be done to protect consumer rights. Quinn addressed a panel discussion at Loyola University's law school on forced arbitration. Quinn says public officials need to do more to safeguard consumers in the marketplace against those with big money and power who threaten to take over "our democracy." Quinn's early public career was focused on consumer protection when he helped form the Citizens Utility Board.
