Governor Bruce Rauner visits Rochelle Foods
Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner made a stop in the Hub City Thursday as he visited workers at Rochelle Foods.
Governor Rauner was 1st given a tour of the Hormel Foods facility before talking with the employees.
Rochelle Foods has over 700 workers at the facility. Around 100 took part in the town hall meeting.
The Governor talked about why he visited Rochelle. He said that he is working for the people of Illinois for career oportunities along with having a better economy.
He also talked about better schools in the state along with lower property and incomes taxes for residents.
The Governor also supports unions at businesses in Illinois. The employees at Rochelle Foods belong to a union.
Rochelle Mayor Chet Olson took part in the tour yesterday at Rochelle Foods. He talked about the message the Governor had for local residents and working for a good company in Hormel. Olson also said that city officials were able to meet the Governor's staff for future projects involving the Hub City.
Mayor Olson has also been impressed with the Governor in the number of visits in communities around the state since taking office.
Governor Rauner was in town for about an hour before he left for another event in Chicago. He did not mention anything about his budget proposal and took no questions from the media who attended the town hall gathering.
