The Rochelle City Council along with officials from the park district remain concerned about the future of the golf course in the Hub City.
Both recently met behind closed doors in separate gatherings to talk about the subject.
Gredco is currently in the last year of their 3-year agreement with the property. The city and park district each paid $400,000 to keep the golf course open. They have a 5-year agreement for the area.
Park officials have also informed the city that they will uphold their portion of the 5-year contract, but would not be involved with the golf course after that time period.
During yesterday's program "Let The People Know", Newstalk 1060 asked Rochelle Mayor Chet Olson if he thought the Fairways Golf Course would be open at this time in 2016. He said he did not know, but he hopes it will remain open for area residents.
"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 on Newstalk 1060 and rebroadcast Saturday morning at 6 on Newstalk 1060 and Sunday morning at 6 on "The Coyote".
