Following several months of discussion, village officials in Hillcrest approved their sanitary sewer ordinance for the community last night. The vote was 4-1 as Trustee Rick Rhoads voted against the proposal while Trustee Steve Dodson abstrained.
Hillcrest has received a $450,000 C-DAP grant for 1 phase of the project and have applied for a 2.5 million dollar low interest loan from the Illinois EPA for phase 2. Village President Kim Whalen said that it took several meetings to get the ordinance finalized.
Bids for the entire sanitary sewer project are expected to go out in late April or early May. The village also expects to hear from the EPA about the loan some time this spring or early summer.
The board approved the holiday pay procedures for village employees along with the criminal conviction employment policy.
The village is looking at purchasing a computer information system for the police department which is used by other area communities along with the Ogle County Sheriff's Department.
The 1-time cost for the village would be $2,500.
Repaving work is schedule this summer or early fall on Illinois 251 in Hillcrest.
Village officials also approved the job description for the Water and Maintenance Superintendents following an executive session.
