Lawmakers have their eyes on sentencing guidelines in Illinois. A new proposal would require felons to serve at least three years in prison if they're busted with a gun. And, they would have to serve at least 85-percent of their sentence before coming up for parole. A similar bill failed a couple of years ago but lawmakers have made a few changes. The latest version of the bill allows judges to review each case and base the sentence on whether the felon's original conviction was nonviolent or happened more than ten years earlier.
