The state's unemployment rate continued its downward trend in December falling to six-point-two percent. That's the lowest it's been in nearly seven years and it was the ninth month of declines in the last ten. Illinois still lags behind the nation as a whole, however. The national unemployment rate in December was five-point-six-percent.
