Ogle County Sheriff's Police continue to investigate a hit and run incident in which a semi-tractor trailer truck struck an 81-year old man from Mt. Morris who was riding his bike.
The incident took place a short time before 6 Wednesday morning in the 4,000 block of West Route 64, just east of Mt. Morris.
A witness told police that the truck driver slowed the semi down after striking Brian Chizzo on his bike and then proceeded west towards Mt. Morris on Route 64.
Chizzo was transported by ambulance to KSB Hospital in Dixon for treatment of his injuries. He was later transported to a Rockford hospital and remains in serious condition.
The semi is described as a tractor with a sleeper and a box trailer. It may have minor damage to the passenger side front bumper.
Weather may have been a factor prior to the incident.
