An Ogle County judge has increased bond to $100,000 for a Rochelle man following a confrontation with local police Sunday night.
42-year old Mario Messer was arrested on the charge of aggravated battery to a police officer, resisting arrest, along with obstruction and driving on a suspended license.
The incident begain when police found the pick-up truck Messer was driving on the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad tracks off 1st Avenue, just west of Caron Road.
Messer ran from officers at the scene. He was apprehended a short time later. Messer allegedly struck 1 of the officers during the arrest.
Bond had been originally set at $15,000 before the $100,000 figure yesterday.
Messer returns to Ogle County court on Friday for an arraignment. He remains in jail in lieu of bond.
Messer does have felony convictions of burglary and 2 drug cases.
