The year 2014 is officially the warmest on record. Scientists at NASA and NOAA both reached the same conclusion in separate studies. In releasing the results on Friday, officials at NASA noted a trend toward the long-term warming of the planet. The ten warmest years on record except for 1998 have happened since 2000. Scientists believe the warming trend is mostly being driven by carbon dioxide emissions into the planet's atmosphere.
