Rochelle elementary board meeting

Rochelle Elementary Superintendent Todd Prusator

The extension of the superintendent's contract along with possible staff reductions topped the discussion last night for the Rochelle Elementary board.

Superintendent Todd Prusator was given a 4-year contract extension that goes through the 2018-19 school year. This will be the final contract for Prusator who plans to retire at that time.

The agreement gives Prusator a pay increase of $2,000 each year in salary. Prusator has been the elementary Superintendent in Rochelle for the past 10 years.

The board held a public hearing dealing with 1.5 million dollars in health and life safety bonds. The work will be done this summer at Central School.

The geothermal project is expected to cost 1.4 million dollars while the retaining wall will have a price tag of $130,000.

The board  approved a resolutation to support Illinois vison 20/20. This deals with 4 core values for education in the state.

The board also talked about possible staff reductions at the Middle School for next year. A final decision is expected in March on the number of layoffs.

Teachers currently have 5 classes at the Middle School. That could increase to 6 during the next school year under the proposal being considered by the board.
