A Republican is taking over the governor's office in Illinois for the first time in 12-years. Bruce Rauner will be sworn in at 11 o'clock this morning. He's promised to bring the state out of a financial slump and revive the economy. Rauner hasn't given too many details on how he'll get that done but, he says overhauling the state's tax structure and tackling workers' comp reform are definitely part of the plan.
Big business groups are kicking major cash to help pay for Bruce Rauner's inaugural events in Springfield. The Illinois Hospital Association and the Illinois Manufacturers Association kicked in 100-thousand dollars apiece to help foot the near 10-million-dollar tab, which includes a concert with Toby Keith and Buddy Guy. Critics are crying foul over the donations because both the IMA and the IHA are two of the state's top lobbying groups. Critics say the donations could open the doors to ethical violations and conflicts of interest.
