Rockford Police believe that a warehouse that burned to the ground this week was a location for a cannabis growing operation.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation. It's also unknown if the fire started was to destroy evidence of the marijuana operations in the empty warehouse.
Authorities say that a house fire Monday in Rockford led to the discovery of the growing process in the warehouse.
The fire this week took place at the former Asher Tool facility on 11th Street in Rockford. Another empty building was also damaged during the blaze.
