Rochelle park district does not get state grant for improvements at Cooper Park

Park officials in Rochelle have received word that the district will not receive any state money from the Oslad grant for improvments at Cooper Park. The total price tag was around $966,000 as the grant would have totaled $400,000.

The proposal included a walking path, new basketball courts, along with a new shelter and parking lot.

Park District Executive Director Eric Christensen was the guest yesterday on the program "Let The People Know". He said that the big project this year will now be work on extending of the bike path.

The path will begin near 20th street and end at Beebe Drive. The extension of the trail would be just over 1 mile.

"Let The People Know" is heard on Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 on Newstalk 1060 and rebroadcast Saturday morning at 6 on Newstalk 1060 and Sunday morning at 6 on "The Coyote".
