Rockford woman pleads not guilty following altercation with Rochelle police

A Rockford woman pled not guilty in Ogle County court yesterday following a confrontation last month in Rochelle with a store employee along with local police.

21-year old Cheyanne Patton has been charged with 2 counts of aggravated battery along with resisting arrest, attempting to disarm a police officer, and escape.

The incident took place at Road Ranger at Illinois 251 and Route 38 during the early morning hours of November 29th. Patton allegedly tried to steal a case of beer from the store.

The altercation 1st involved the employee and then local police during the arrest.

No one suffered any serious injuries.

In court today, Patton waived her preliminary hearing and demanded a jury trial. She is scheduled to be back in court on January 12th in Oregon for a pre-trial conference. Probable cause was found in the case yesterday by the judge.

Patton remains in jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
