The 9th Annual Christmas Tree Festival continues today in Rochelle along with the Old Fashioned Christmas Walk that will take place this evening.
The festival features table top Christmas trees, gift baskets, along with holiday wreaths and swags.
The silent auction on the items ends at 6:30 this evening at City Hall. All proceeds raised this year will go to the Rochelle Community Action Network. CAN provides resources to assist children and families in the area.
The Old Fashioned Christmas Walk will be held tonight as Santa visits the Flagg Township museum between 4 and 8.
The annual Christmas Lighted Parade starts at 5:30 as it will travel through the downtown area and ends at City Hall. The Community Tree will be lighted following the parade.
Stores will be open in the downtown area this evening along with the weekend with special buys for the holiday season.
There will also be plenty of food tonight in the downtown area. The fire department will be selling pork chop sandwiches along with the chili and soup dinner at the Masonic Temple. The Hub City Senior Center will be serving their chicken and dumpling dinner.
The Flagg Township Library will also have an open house with Christmas entertainment.
The bed races along Lincoln Highway begin at 6:30.
Local residents are reminded that a "Frozen Family Fun Run" will take place Saturday morning at 10 in the downtown area. The course is just under 1 mile as you can run, walk, or even ride a bike.
Bring a canned good item to donate to the Rochelle Christian Food Pantry.
