City employees in Oregon got a nice holiday gift this week. The council approved a pay increase of 2 percent for the 18 workers.
The pay raise is retroactive to August 1st of this year.
The tax levy ordinance was introduced at $586,000. It's about $3,000 less than a year ago due to the lower EAV for Oregon.
Tad Dominski of Polo was sworn in as a new police officer for the department. He had been working part-time for the city along with the Ogle County Sheriff's Department in the jail.
It was also announced that the Whiskey's River Smokehouse at 123 North 2nd Street was demolished this week. Fire destroyed the former restaurant last March.
