Following a special meeting yesterday evening, park officials in Rochelle approved a proposal for health insurance coverage involving their 8 employees.
The park district had received proposals from 3 companies. The board chose United Healthcare from Rochelle Insurance as there will be an increase of 25 percent from premiums involving their former coverage.
Park District Executive Director Eric Christensen said that the insurance coverage is month to month as it begins on December 1st. He said that it could change since the union contract expires at the end of February. He said insurance coverage will be a key issue in negotiations.
4 park district employees belong to the union.
