During a two-hour meeting yesterday morning in Chicago, governor-elect Bruce Rauner told the Democrats who lead the General Assembly that they shouldn't take action on any significant issues until he is sworn in. House Speaker Michael Madigan and Senate President John Cullerton described the meeting as cordial and productive. Madigan said he plans to work professionally with Rauner on the key issue facing the state -- the budget. Cullerton said Rauner offered no specific budget plans. Rauner called it a good meeting and said he looks forward to many more.
