Exelon officials have announced that the Byron Nuclear Power Plant will host their annual open house today from 1 until 3:30. The event will take place in the training building off North German Church Road.
The open house will feature informational booths, deomonstrations, along with educational displays and a look inside the control simulator. Nuclear power provides 48 percent of the state's electricity.
Former Baltimore Raven Sean Considine of Byron will also sign autographs during the open house. Everyone is invited to guess the score of the Bears-Packers game tonight. The winner will receive a football prize package.
Due to security restrictions, the open house is limited to the plant's training center. It will not include a tour inside the nuclear power plant in Byron.
