Governor Quinn is accepting defeat. He lost to Republican Bruce Rauner in Tuesday's election but he didn't throw in the towel until yesterday. That's because he wanted to wait until all the votes had been counted. Quinn conceded once he realized the early, absentee, and provisional votes wouldn't be enough to push him over the top. He says he respects the voters' decision and will work with Rauner's camp to ensure a smooth transition.
Governor Quinn is rounding out the final two months in office but he says his work on significant issues isn't over. He's pushing to get the minimum-wage boosted to at least ten-bucks-an-hour before January 1st. Lawmakers could start moving the plan in a couple of weeks when they head back to Springfield for the veto session.
