A Dixon man has improved to stable condition at a Rockford hospital after the car he was driving struck a grain truck Monday afternoon. The crash took place at the intersection of Route 26 and Route 64 in rural Polo.
Reports indicate that 68-year old Stanley Rodabaugh was traveling southbound in his car on Route 26 when the vehicle crossed the center line and struck a grain truck driven by 77-year old Mervin Ludewig of Polo who was traveling northbound.
Rodabaugh was extricated from the vehicle and flown from the scene to a Rockford hospital with multiple injuries. He had been listed in serious condition following the incident.
Ludewig was not hurt in the crash.
The accident remains under investigation by Ogle County Sheriff's Police.
