City officials in Oregon last night approved a proposal to spend $6,000 to pay for fuel expenses for the ATS Ambulance Service. The money will go for calls within the city limits.
The $6,000 is the estimated cost for gas that will be used by the end of the fiscal year. Over 90 percent of the calls since ATS Ambulance Service began working in the community have been in Oregon. They began service on August 21st.
ATS currently has a contract with the fire protection district. They were hired after the Oregon Ambulance Service closed in June. ATS receives $6,000 a month to keep a crew at the fire station in Oregon.
The fire protection district may also put a referendum on the April 2015 ballot to pay for ambulance services in the future. Public meetings would be held to inform residents in the district about the referendum.
