Rochelle Elementary Superintendent Todd Prusator
The Rochelle elementary board heard a report last night dealing with the financial status in the district.
They approved the fiscal year 2014 audit as the district is looking at a deficit of over 1.5 million dollars in the budget they approved last month.
Superintendent Todd Prusator said there were no surprises with the numbers in the audit. He said state funding remains a problem for all districts in Illinois. Prusator also said that there could be some adjustments in the future from Springfield.
In a 6-1 vote, the board approved the 1 year tax abatement for the Fairways Golf Course in Rochelle at 50 percent. The abatement would account for around $3,500.
Voting against the proposal was Bob Burke.
4 of the 5 principals in the district gave update reports on the ISAT scores for each school. Prusator said that the numbers have improved in several area. The emphasis remains on math, English, and language arts.
The before and after school Hub Program also has 307 students right now, the highest number so far for the district.
Ken Esgar, Pat Casey, and Diane Kenney were appointed 2 year terms for the David Crawford Foundation Board of Directors. Karen Gardell will also fill Susan Armstrong's unexpired term.
Local residents will pay a little more to watch volleyball, basketball, and wrestling events at the Middle School. The admission fee will be $2 for adults and $1 for students.
The board met in executive session to talk about personnel and pending litigation. No action was taken.
