Hillcrest Board President Kim Whalen
It's a done deal. Regional Ready Mix will be moving out of their current location in Hillcrest by December 1st.
Village officials approved an annexation agreement last night that would have the cement company moving to their new location near the intersection of Illinois 251 North and Lind Road. The vote was 5-1 as Trustee Rick Rhoads voted against the proposal.
Board President Kim Whalen said it was a long process to get the agreement approved. She has been working on the proposal for over 3 years.
The annexation agreement was with the village, the cement company, and Julep Arbor Farms who owns the property around Regional Ready Mix along Lind Road.
Part of the proposal involves an 8-year sales tax abatement at 50% for the company. Regional Ready Mix had been at their current location in the 400 block of River Road for over 8 years.
The board approved a new truck route that includes Scott and Maple Avenues, River Road, and Maple Court. Wayne Road and a portion of Roy Avenue were eliminated from the route.
The weight limits for trucks also increased from 8 to 40 tons.
Village officials tabled the financial spending resolution. The key issue centered around how much money a trustee could spend before the board approved the purchase. The maximum figure right now is $1,500.
Hillcrest is also looking for a new maintenance man. Robert Villatoro's last day with the village is Friday.
