Creston board meeting

Doug Kroupa, Board President of the Creston-Dement Public Library

The Creston board has a new trustee. Former Fire Chief Wayne Williams was appointed to the position last night. He replaces Terry Daugherty who resigned from the board on June 3rd after 2 years as a village official.

The board heard an update report on the storm water work on Prairie Street along with the storm drains on North Street. Concrete work was done on Prairie Street yesterday.

Village officials approved a bid of just under $44,200 for the 360 feet of storm drains on North Street. Village Board President Tom Byro said that the work on the 2 streets needed to be done before winter.

North Street will remain gravel through the winter months.

The board heard a presentation from the Creston-Dement Public Library by board President Doug Kroupa. The library is currently open 46 1/2 hours a week for 6 days. They have over 14,000 items and average around 600 visitors a month. The library includes 6 computers, audio books, and wireless access. It's also on a national registry list involving the history of Creston.

Dave Brown was named last night chairman of the Planning Commission. The village also plans to flush fire hydrants today.

Nomination packets are available for the April 7th, 2015 Consolidated Election. Trustee terms coming to an end include Mike Kerns, Greg Hopkins, and Wayne Williams.
