Rochelle City Manager David Plyman
City officials in Rochelle approved a 4-year union contract last night with the police department. The deal is retroactive to May 1st of this year.
The pay increase for the officers will be 2.5% in the 1st year of the agreement followed by 2.75%, 3%, and 3.25%. City Manager David Plyman said that negotiations went well between both bargaining sides. He said that the city and union both wanted a 4 year contract.
The union approved the proposal last Tuesday.
The landfill gas facility contract was approved with Rochelle Energy LLC. They are a company recently formed by Evensol Envorinmental Energy Solutions which is based in the state of Oregon. The city still has the option to buy the plant in the future.
A new blower was purchased for the Treatment Plant at a cost of just under $212,000. The payback for the city will be 6 years with the new unit.
The city also hopes to purchase a front wheel loader for the Engineering Department next month at an auction.
The council heard a presentation from Public Relations and Marketing Manager Jenny Thompson dealing with the new toursim website.
The website will have different events and features about Rochelle along with businesses in the area. The website is www.enjoyrochelle.com.
The council met for about 5 minutes in executive session to talk about personnel and litigation. No action was taken.
