A Belvidere man has received a sentence of 4 years in the Department of Corrections after he stole numerous cartons of cigarettes from a business in Stillman Valley.
20-year old Jack Mack plead guilty to the Class 2 felony of burglary.
The theft took place in July at the Casey's General Store in Stillman Valley. The cartons of cigarettes were taken behind the counter of the store while the business was still open.
Mack was arrested by Ogle County Sheriff's Police on the southeast side of the village after he left the store.
He also gave police false information on who he was. Mack was eventually identified through his fingerprints.
