A special prosecutor has been appointed in connection with a shooting last month in Whiteside County that involved a sheriff's deputy. No one suffered any serious injuries from the altercation.
Reports indicate that the deputy fired his gun at a car during a chase with police. Illinois State Police have completed their investigation involving the shooting.
The deputy has been placed on administrative leave. The special prosecutor will determine if any charges will be filed against the officer.

The driver of the vehicle was 24-year old Andre Peat of Sterling. He was arrested on the charge of 2 counts of aggravated fleeing to elude police along with reckless conduct and possession of a firearm by a felon. Bond was set at $500,000.
