A section of homes in Oregon were evacuated yesterday morning following a natural gas leak.
Residents on the east side of the 800 block of South 4th Street and the west side of South 3rd Street were asked to leave their residence after an excavator struck the gas main.
Nicor gas was able to repair the main by early afternoon.
Work was being done on a water project at 811 South 4th Street when the gas main was hit. Workers had planned to shut off the water in the area prior to the incident. The house is scheduled to be demolished.
No one suffered any injuries from the gas leak. Residents were back in their home a short time after 1.
