Ogle County Board meeting

Ogle County officials hope to know next month information on a report done on the tow fee fund involving the sheriff's department.

A company from Naperville, Sikich LLP, is being paid $15,000 to look into the tow fee fund from 2012 to the present time. Ogle County Board Chairman Kim Gouker of Byron talked about the delay in the report last night. He mentioned that there was sloppy record keeping and that Sikich had several questions that Sheriff Michael Harn needs to answer.

Interviews have recently been completed for the position of Emergency Management Agency Assistant Coordinator. The person would replace Candance Humphrey who has resigned. There are 2 finalists left for the position.

County employees will have 2 options involving the premium rates for health insurance coverage. The deductible could be $500 or $1,500.

Gouker said that the deductible for the county has not changed in 11 years. The new rates go into effect on January 1st of 2015.

The board approved the increase of the Lee County enterprize zone by 45 acres on the west side of Rochelle along Route 38. This would be for "Project Red", a "fresh" food distribution business based in Chicago. If they come to Rochelle, they plan to have 2 facilities and around 60 employees.

The city should know by October 1st if the facility will be built.

The new Sheriff's Administration building remains on schedule. Water and sanitary sewer work has been completed. 75% of the brick project has been done. The 4.2 million dollar building should be is use during the 1st part of 2015.
