RTHS board approves new budget

RTHS Superintendent Jamie Craven

The Rochelle Township High School board approved a new fiscal year budget tonight as they are looking at a deficit of $126,800. That figure is anticipated life safety work that may take place during the next 12 months.

Superintendent Jame Craven said that they will have to watch expenses again for the fiscal year. He said that the budget figure is about the same as in the past several years for the district.

Projected revenue for the district will be 14.3 million dollars with expenditures at 14.4 million dollars.

The board heard an update report on the KEC programs held at Kishwaukee Community College in Malta. 105 students from RTHS take part in the program.

Resignations last night included Carol Weidmann as assistant speech coach. She has been part of the program for the past 30 years at RTHS.

Chris Smith has also resigned as assistant football and boys basketball coach and Kassandra Smith as Head Poms Coach. Chris Hager will remain as an assistant coach in wrestling.

The district also plans to be part of the property tax assessment appeals process dealing with the Americold Properties.

The fall service project during Homecoming week involves canned goods being collected by students for the Hand n Hand Food Bank in Rochelle.
