Illinois lawmakers want police in every town and city across the state to wear body cameras. They want to create a special fund to help law enforcement agencies cover the costs. Supporters say the cameras will protect the integrity of police officers and cut down confusion if there are ever any questions about what happened during a confrontation. The law would require that cameras provide both video and audio of any confrontation. The agencies would be required to turn the footage over to the State's Attorney and others who represent a person depicted in the recording.
