2 area residents suffered serious injuries yesterday morning following a 2-vehicle head-on collision south of Sublete near the LaSalle and Lee County line.
Reports indicate that 44-year old Bennie Sumner of Mendota was southbound on Route 52 near Cedar Grove Road when the vehicle traveled into the northbound lane and struck head-on a car driven by 64-year old Cyril Ward of Amboy.
Both drivers were flown from the scene by helicopter to Rockford Hospitals for treatment of their injuries.
4-year old Brayden Ward of Amboy was also treated for his injuries at Mendota Hospital.
Alcohol nor drugs are suspected to be the cause of the crash and speed was not a factor.
Seat belt use and cell phone usage is being looked into.
The accident remains under investigation by Lee County Sheriff's Police.
