An Oregon man escaped serious injuries early this morning when the pick-up truck he was driving struck a utility pole.
The alcohol related accident took place a short time after midnight in the 2,000 block of North Hill Road.
Reports indicate that 49-year old Brian Gittleson was traveling south bound on North Hill Road when the truck left the roadway and entered the east ditch. The vehicle then crossed over both lanes of traffic and traveled into the west ditch and struck the utility pole.
Gittleson refused medical treatment at the scene. He was arrested on the charge of DUI along with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper lane usage.
Gittleson was transported to the Ogle County jail following the arrest.
