A ceremony was held Tuesday afternoon in Oregon for the new 4.1 million dollar Ogle County Sheriff's Administration building. The facility is located at 103 Jefferson Street.
Construction work began last spring with the removal of the old morgue. The new building will be located at that site.
The new 1-story Sheriff's Adminstration building is expectd to be open in the early part of 2015.
Long Range Planning Committe Chairman Don Griffin of Oregon talked about the benefits of the new facility. He said it will be safer for the employees and it will meet all ADA standards.
Emergency 911 Coordinator Sandy Beitel said that the new building was badly needed and that it's the 1st time the radio dispatchers will have windows to look outside.
The Coroner's office and Morgue will also be in the new building. Ogle County Coroner Lou Finch said that the new facility will help in future investigations.
The current administration building will eventually be torn down and the area used for parking.
