Future land use for sports programs in the area topped the discussion last night for park officials in Rochelle.
The board heard a presentation from AYSO as they use the Middle School field in the Fall and the Helms Athletic Complex in the Spring involving their soccer program. There has been some talk about a possible soccer complex on the west side of Skare Park.
Park Board President Roger Bunger said that they have to look at current land open before any work is done at Skare Park.
The board is considering land near Lincoln School off 20th Street for soccer fields since they already cut the grass for the school district.
Bunger said that the baseball and softball programs need more fields in the future for games and practises. He said the Helms Athletic Complex could be used in the future for the programs.
Park officials approved a bid of just over $19,000 to paint the bandshell at Atwood Park. They are also considering an ice rink this winter at Tilton Park.
The Spring Lake swimming pool is closed for the summer. The district was in the red by around $10,600, $6,000 less that a year ago.
87 dogs tags have also been sold for Bark Park.
