17th Annual Lincoln Highway Heritage Festival continues today in Rochelle

The 17th Annual Lincoln Highway Heritage Festival comes to an end today in Rochelle for all ages to enjoy.

This year's theme is "Blasting off to Family Fun". Several thousand people plan to be attend the festival this year in the downtown area.

Today's activities: Pancakes in the park 7:30 until 11am
Church Service at 9am near the Gazebo
Garden Tractor Pull event at 10am
Corn Boil at Noon
Jon Conover performs from 1 until 3
Lincoln Highway Heritage Festival Parade at 3pm
     **The Coyote" will have a remote during the parade
Moose Club Ice Cream Social from 4 until 6
Midwest Dueling Pianos from 4:30 until 6
JD Brown Band performs from 7 until 9
Raffle Winner announced at 8pm

Area residents can also visit the Railroad Park, the Tourism Filling Station, the Fire Station Museum, along with the Flagg-Township Historical Museum, Robert's Armory, and the Flagg-Rochelle Public Library today.

That's the 17th Annual Lincoln Highway Heritage Festival today in downtown Rochelle.

Little Miss Peanut Winner Zoey Taylor

 

10-year old Zoey Taylor of Rochelle is this year's winner of the 2014-15 "Little Miss Peanut" contest. The event took place Friday evening during the 17th Annual Lincoln Highway Heritage Festival sponsored by the Rochelle Noon Kiwanis and the Rochelle Kiwanis Golden K Clubs.

A total of 10 girls ages 7 through 10 were part of the contest this year as each was asked several questions.

Zoey Taylor received a tiara from Quinns Jewelers in Rochelle along with a 50 dollar savings account certificate and a $25 gift certificate.

The 1st runner-up was Mikayla Preston while the 2nd runner-up was McKenna Cook. Each received a $25 savings account and a $15 gift card.

The savings accounts were donated by the 1st National Bank and Trust Company in Rochelle while the gift certificates came from Walmart.

Each girl will represent the Kiwanis Clubs at events during the next year which includes Sunday's Lincoln Highway Heritage Festival Parade.

The "Little Miss Peanut" contest started in 1956 in Rochelle.

The Kiwanis "Peanut Day" is scheduled for September 6th in Rochelle.
