2 Franklin Grove men suffered injuries yesterday following an accident that took place west of Rochelle on Route 38 at Grange Road. The incident took place a short time before 3.
A car driven by 63-year old Thomas Ball of Franklin Grove was traveling east bound on Route 38 and failed to see a vehicle that was stopped and turning onto Grange Road. Ball lost control of the vehicle and traveled into the east ditch to avoid a collision.
A car driven by 28-year old Gary Evans of Ashton was also east bound on Route 38 and observed the accident. He tried to avoid the Ball car, but the 2 vehicles collided in the ditch.
Charles Ball of Franklin Grove, a passenger in the Thomas Ball car, was extricated from the vehicle. He was then flown from the scene by Lifeline Helicopter to a Rockford Hospital with internal injuries. He also injured his leg and had cuts to his face.
Thomas Ball was transported by ambulance to Rochelle Community Hospital for pain in his chest area and knee. He was later taken to a Rockford hospital for treatment of his injuries.
Evans refused medical treatment at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation by Ogle County Sheriff's Police.
