Progress continues to be made on 2 projects at the Rochelle Municipal Airport.
The paving along with the markings have been completed for the extension of the runway. It was extended to 5,000 feet. The former length was 4.226 feet. The new runway has been in use for about a week.
Work still needs to be done between the old portion of the runway and the extension as they are not level at the present time. The project will be completed once the lighting work is done in October.
The clay surface is down for the taxiway as it remains on schedule at Koritz Field. The $700,000 project should be completed by the end of September.
All of the hangars remain full at the airport. 35 are being rented at the present time.
The 2nd Summer Country Jam will take place this Saturday at the airport. Around 1,200 people attended the event last summer.
Chicagoland Skydiving Center is also having a good year with their jumps and restaurant. More people have jumped out of a plane this year than in 2013. On-line registration is also at it's highest number than in the past 5 years for the skydiving business.
