A couple of former NIU students are making a buzz for creating a new safety device. It's a small, wireless handheld remote that sends an alert to police when someone is in trouble. That alert includes the person's exact location and records all video and audio of what's going on. That information can possibly be used as evidence in court proceedings if necessary. The team of NIU alum created the device in response to the growing number of violent attacks on campuses across the nation, including the deadly shooting rampage on NIU's campus back in 2008. Students can get the device for under ten-bucks a-month. Check out Edu-Protect.com for more details.
