Rochelle Council meeting (Updated)

City officials in Rochelle amended an ordinance last night dealing with semi-truck parking in all residentail areas.

The Council has decided the prohibit all truck parking on the streets.

The city plans to purchase a solar system at the wastewater treatment plant at a cost of $829,000. Rochelle will receive a grant that totals $500,000 for the project.

Snow removal will be the only maintenance issue for the solar panels. The system should be completed by late November and there will be several locations you can view the solar information which will include City Hall.

A law enforcement mutual aid agreement with other police agencies in Illinois was approved. The city has been involved with the program since 2002. Police Chief Eric Higby said there were a few minor changes in the agreement when it comes to police protection involving area departments.

The council also heard a presentation about the possibility of a YMCA for the community. Membership could total between 500 to 750 people. How to finance the project has yet to be determined by the local residents who had the study completed.

Absent from last night's meeting was Councilman Ed Rice.
