In area news, a NIU employee who is in charge of testing campus water has been placed on paid administrative leave.
School officials need to determine if he failed to test certain water samples for nearly a 2 year period.
University officials recently received information that the campus had violated the Illinois EPA drinking water compliance standards over the past year. It was later determined that the required testing for 2 disinfection byproducts did not take place between October of 2011 through September of 2013.
There have been no reports of any illnesses from drinking the water at NIU at this time.
