Governor Quinn has signed legislation to extend a statewide construction program. The bill allows the state to borrow one-point-one-billion-dollars for a four-year road and bridge plan that continues a plan that's concluding. The bonds will be paid off with revenue from the legalization of video gambling, increased drivers' fees and higher taxes on candy, soda and beauty products. Quinn estimates the 240-projects will create more than 14-thousand jobs.
An area road project involves 31 miles of resurface work for I-39 between Ogle and Winnebago Counties with a price tag of 26 million dollars.
